Whispers of WHY

Quiet Thoughts. Loud Truths. Sent to your Soul.

On the edge of emotional collapse, Aaron—a gifted soul searching for purpose—unearths a buried love and a calling that might just lead him to life’s greatest mystery: why anything began in the first place.

After nearly spending half of the night there thinking about the randomness of the beginning of this universe, he went to his desk, to kind of find the answer about the reason of his very own existence, in the center of the wall which held all his achievements since childhood. It clearly represented what a bright student was he! Along with those certificate frames, there were pictures of galaxies, nebulae, and the black holes, his all-time favorite topic to research. He then looked at the invitation kept there and for about three minutes, kept staring at it wondering it to be the distraction from this love stupidity. He agreed to something he was interested in since childhood but the real reason for now was getting mental and emotional distraction. And this made him lack the original interest in what he was about to explore.

He was one of those privileged kids who shone bright on the outside but carried a deep, starless void inside, longing for a ray. The suffocation he felt in that world of freedom was looked up on as solace and luxury of life by billions.

Aaron kept his hands on the table and leaned towards the soft board with lowering his head that held the thirst for peace and love. Though he was tired mentally more than physically but he had no signs of drowsiness in his sharp russet brown eyes; only a dull yet intriguing motivation to simply find something that could make him feel less burden on this planet. He frowned with stress, closed his eyes tight and took out his black velvet diary to pen down all the nostalgia that was bothering him. On slowly opening the eyes, he saw something on the cover that he wrote nearly two years back. However, it was since then that he actually wrote nothing in that book.

“Love is Life!”

It was the time when these two lovebirds were together fantasizing their future together, Aaron and Megan. A love that began when they were just 12. It was still present in his heart and who knows about hers. Just that the relationship that bonded this love was over on Aaron’s 18th birthday.

Looking at that beautiful calligraphy, he only smiled with a hushed silence. That rare smile expressed all the pain that was transpiring internally since the time he actually wrote that. Suddenly that smile faded away exposing a question on his face. Frowningly he remarked,

“For real?! Am I born for just loving someone, giving birth to another generation, doing good stuff for the current generation and dying without actually finding the answer to ‘Why it all began at the first place’? This cycle of being generous and going to the flora and fauna again! What for? I’ll be dead somehow. How would I even know that someone alive is actually praising my contributions to the world? I would be ‘dead’, right?” For a moment, he thought of the after-life, but then shook his head and shrugged off the idea away as a waste of time to think of something which has no evidence at all.

He was a believer of science. A believer of ‘there’s no existence of God’. Thus, no after-life. Slightly throwing his diary away, he picked up the invitation of NASA. It was as if he actually threw his love life aside and decided to decode LIFE itself.
